ABOUT US

THE NVCO MISSION

The Northern Virginia Community Orchestra (NVCO) was founded in October, 2021 and is a full
orchestra that rehearses standard orchestral repertoire and provides concerts for the Northern Virginia
community. The membership of the NVCO consists of amateur and professional musicians who donate
their time and efforts to rehearsals and concerts.

Ochestra in Action

The Northern Virginia Community Strings (NVCS) is a division of the NVCO and consists of amateur
musicians who rehearse intermediate string orchestra literature. Both ensembles rehearse at Irving
Middle School, 8100 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, VA 22152. The NVCS meets on Wednesdays from
6 to 650pm. The NVCO meets from 7 to 8:15pm. Public concerts are to be announced.
The orchestras are under the direction of Music Director Stephen Shook and are supported by a six-
member Board of Trustees. The NVCO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
