ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

The Northern Virginia Community Orchestra (NVCO), founded in October 2021, is a full orchestra that rehearses standard orchestral repertoire and provides concerts for the Northern Virginia community. The membership of the NVCO consists of amateur and professional musicians who donate their time and talent to perform and promote orchestral music.

The Northern Virginia Community Strings (NVCS) is a division of the NVCO and consists of amateur musicians who rehearse intermediate string orchestra literature. Both ensembles rehearse in Fairfax County. The NVCS meets on Wednesdays from 6 to 650pm. The NVCO meets from 7 to 8:15 pm.

The orchestras are under the direction of Music Director Stephen Shook and are supported by a six-member Board of Trustees. The NVCO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are welcome and are fully tax-deductible.
